In 2021, Jorn acquired his BSc in medical biology from Hogeschool Inholland. During his bachelor, he contributed to two human post-mortem brain projects at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience exploring alterations of the histaminergic system in schizophrenia patients and, characterizing hypothalamic neuron populations in type 2 diabetes patients. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Neurobiology at Radboud University. In 2023, he joined the Storkebaum lab at the Donders Institute to study viral infections in the onset and progression of neuromuscular diseases using Drosophila melanogaster. It is during this project that his interests shifted towards sensory and behavioural research in insects. Excited to explore these new interests and apply his experience in working with Drosophila, Jorn has joined the Insect Neuro Lab. Here, he will compare the brain anatomy of several bumblebee species native to England.
