Jet developed a passion for studying vectors and vector-borne diseases during her BSc and MSc studies at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. In her MSc she studied the prevalence of a novel mosquito-associated narnavirus in the Asian bush mosquito, Aedes japonicus. Jet also did research for a citizen science project called ‘Muggenradar’ (Mosquito Alert), both as a student and as a research assistant.

She started her PhD project under the Newcastle-Liverpool-Durham BBSRC partnership programme at the University of Liverpool in October 2022. The title of her PhD project is: ‘A conflict of interests: How do viruses manipulate their mosquito-vector to increase their own transmission?’. Jet is doing this project under the supervision of Dr. Marcus Blagrove, Dr. Lena Riabinina, and Prof. Matthew Baylis.
