Hannah Lawless

Hannah is a current first year Biological Sciences student here at Durham and will be joining the lab to carry out her research project with her Laidlaw Scholarship. She will be supervised by Lena and work with Carolina to investigate the difference between the olfactory and visual systems in bumblebees to see how it affects their flower choices.

She previously has done work experience during her sixth form where she looked at gene expression in Drosophila and is excited to continue exploring the nervous systems of insects and apply her research to different sustainability and biodiversity initiatives.

Within Durham University, Hannah volunteers on the Botanical Garden Enhancement Project and the Living Lab scheme to improve biodiversity on campus and is also an active member of Neuroscience and Women in STEM societies.
